Presenting at the Global Digital Health Forum (GDHF) 2026, Bangkok
Executive Director Piero Mazimpaka Irakiza will present "AI-Assisted Cervical Cancer Triage in Rwanda: Deep Learning Classification of Histopathology Images in a Resource-Constrained Pathology Setting" at GDHF 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, December 2–4, 2026.
This presentation will showcase Rwanda's pioneering work in applying artificial intelligence to cervical cancer histopathology, addressing diagnostic inequities in low-resource pathology settings. The study demonstrates how locally generated data and deep learning models can support earlier detection and triage, while emphasising responsible AI adoption through validation, governance, and workflow integration.
GDHF 2026 is co-hosted by Thailand's Ministry of Public Health and the Global Digital Health Network, with support from WHO Thailand. The forum will convene over 500 in-person participants and 3,000 virtual attendees worldwide, focusing on AI, innovation, interoperability, and health equity.
